Where are the children going to school?

I am often asked where the children  in Chora Sfakion are going to school…. from the elementary school of Chora Sfakion I had already written…..  in the whole municipality there are several elementary schools (Chora Sfakion, Anopolis, Askifou and Vouvas)but  there isjust one  Gymnasium-Lykeio (middle and high school) and this is in Chora Sfakion….

In Greece the  compulsory school attendance is 9 years . After the first six years in the elementary school, the children are going for  the next three years , to the middle school,  “Γυμνάσιο” Gymnasio, here are  all children without selection procedure…. after these 9 years the real compulsory education is  fulfiled…, however who would like to continue, is going the next three years on “Λύκείο” Lykio, a high school, or on other certain advanced technical colleges……. at the end of the third year on the Lykeio they can announce themself for the  A level / exam  the απολυτήριο (apolitirio)…. afterwards they are  able to go  further on to the universities…..
