Today for a long time once more we have a big storm…. the sea rages…. the sky is changing between sun and strong showers….
to see all the pivtures klick on the following pictures …
Yesterday it was sunny but also a little bit windy…. the Neptune, however, couldn’t be disconcerted by that….
Yesturday evening we had the Good Friday Procession in Chora Sfakion…. it started at the Church “Christo” … we went down all the street to Embrosgialos along the promenade to the Agio Penteleimon church, where the procession was ending….
A beautiful morning today … I love this small clouds at the sky… the rest of the sky and the see shines in wonderful blue!!!! Its warm …. everybody has good mood….. and Eatser is very near !!! I hope the weather will keep like this alsöo the forecast said rain for tomorrow…. but for Easter Sonday it seems to be better again…
Askifou is the first place of the Sfakia if you drive from the north, from Vrisses to the south…. a wonderful plateau with several districts like Petre, Amoudari, Stravorachi, Goni and Kares…..
Here a few impressions from this afternoon as I was passing Askifou….
Finally the sky and the sea are blue again and the Sfakia shines in all the blaze of colour….its stormy with wind from the West…. its a little more fresh but still very very nice!!!!
Arrival of the ferryboat Samaria today at late afternoon…. its still not very buissy, but now she has her regulary timetable to Loutro and Agia Roumeli….
Kolokasia or also Agios Giorgos is a small village in a slope in the hinterland of Frangokastello….. a small street leads, in the meantime, from Agios Nektarius to Kolokasia….. from the locals the village was left during 60s 70s…. for about 25 years tries to establish a group of German the village again…. Year after year they come for few weeks to Kolokasia and build up old houses again whom they have bought there
From the street everything seems insignificantly… you just see one two houses…. then, however, you come to the place and you sees the whole extent…. a quiet nice village with great view of the Libyan Sea….
What a beatiful day today….the sun is shining its a little bit windy… its just great!!!!!
Today I have once more some music. Michalis Tzouganakis, many of you know him certainly, because he is not only famous in Greece, but also abroad. On his official homepage is written in his biography completely on top.
Η Κρήτη είναι η ιδιαίτερη πατρίδα του..
Η ρίζα του, τα Σφακιά.
Crete is his home town… His roots are in Sfakia.
Yes, now, actually, I shoud exactly have to be able to tell you where exactly he has his roots, unfortunately, I do not know this exactly. its said in Sfakia! He was born anyway in Belgium, there his parents emigrated. already at the age of 2 years he held for the first time the lute in the hand and the music fascinated him. when he was about 11 years old, his family returned again to Crete, to Chania ….and from there everything took his run. today he is a giftet musician!!!!
And no year pass by that he not also gives a concert in the Sfakia. mostly in August in Frangokastello … there is since the last year the Cultural Week of August ….all of you who are here in August should visit that (exact informations about this year I will still write of course then) … the concerts of Michalis Tzouganakis in the fort of Frangokastello are brilliant an experience … the music the scenery ….magnificent!!
Here are my impressions from last year…
A great song is also the song Hymn of a stranger…..
I have suffered much
since I was born
hear, I am going to tell you
how the strangers behave.
They have set out
and go on endlessly
their thoughts are limited,
they can not speak
wherever they look
wherever they even go where they surprise themselves and say:
They’re talking confused and go ahead,
they’ve gone mad
and idiots they call
the strangers in the strange place
and idiots are called
the strangers in a foreign land
to him they are making allegations
and insults he endures,
and only he, the poor,
knows what he’s going through
and all the needy
are called crazy
They’re talking confused and go ahead,
they’ve gone mad
and idiots they call
the strangers in the strange place
and idiots are called
the strangers in a foreign land
But I tell you,
my friends and brothers,
if you neither have seen
nor have suffered a strange land
the stranger, and death
are considered siblings
